But who are the Spartans?

Stemming from the Ancient Greek city / state named Sparta, the Spartans were a nation of warriors who begin training their boys for war at a very young age. They are known to have utilized brilliant combat tactics and were fearless on their battle fields.

The male population had but one goal and that was to fight and to die heroically for Sparta. The women’s sole duty was to breed more men Spartans. Thus the Spartans had no art, no literature, no architecture, no exploration, no science, and no commerce to speak of. Likewise, the Spartans had no sympathy for the weak and the sickly, who were either just left to die or their inevitable death was expedited by homicide.

With the Persians continually threatening their sovereignty, in 479 BC the Spartans waged the infamous Battle of Plataea in which they indeed defeated the Persian.
